About the position

The Shasta-Tehama-Trinity Joint Community College District (Shasta College) is seeking an administrator to oversee various student services programs. The position involves planning, organizing, coordinating, and directing day-to-day operations of programs such as Financial Aid, Admissions and Records, and the Veterans Center. The ideal candidate will be committed to providing equitable education outcomes and supporting a diverse student population. Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, coordinate, direct, implement, manage and participate in the administration and supervision of various student services programs.
  • Serve as liaison for students by providing assistance to resolve matriculation problems.
  • Support Guided Pathways initiatives.
  • Recommend for hire, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate assigned personnel.
  • Read, interpret, and implement federal and state regulations and guidelines governing financial aid and veteran services.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate program goals, objectives, policies and services consistent with the college mission.
  • Supervise the maintenance of financial aid, veteran services and admissions records.
  • Review financial aid, veteran's services and admissions processes for compliance.
  • Manage the Shasta College Cohort Default rate.
  • Handle student appeals related to the areas supervised.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and ensure a high performance, customer service-oriented work environment.
  • Plan, develop and supervise special events related to Enrollment Services.
  • Consult and collaborate with the Information Technology Department.
  • Prepare a variety of complex statistical and narrative reports to federal, state and local agencies.
  • Participate in the reporting of MIS data to the California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office.
  • Create collaborative, positive working environments and relationships.
  • Manage content on web presence for all areas assigned.
  • Resolve complex and difficult student situations related to financial aid and admissions.
  • Communicate student services programs and activities with other district departments and personnel.
  • Perform complex and responsible registration functions.
  • Organize and coordinate student services programs and advisory committees.
  • Attend conferences, workshops, and training seminars.
  • Serve as leader for one or more cross-functional teams.
  • Prepare informational materials, handbooks, policies and procedural guides.
  • Conduct staff meetings and represent Shasta College at statewide and regional meetings.
  • Perform fieldwork as needed to support recruitment projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or graduate degree in public administration, management, business administration, leadership, or a related field.
  • One year of formal training, internship, or leadership experience reasonably related to the administrative assignment.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of staff and students.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Three years of related work experience and post-secondary education experience.
  • Leadership experience including supervision and evaluation of personnel and budget management.
