About The Position

We are looking for a Full Stack WordPress Developer to solve complex problems while collaborating with an awesome development team working on innovative and large-scale WordPress installations. The ideal candidate will have experience with the WordPress Gutenberg block system, templates, and custom plugins, and will be able to dive into both the front-end composition of a WordPress site and handle the back-end. A strong knowledge of WordPress plugin architecture and data organization is preferred. The candidate should be able to troubleshoot website issues effectively, knowing when to check error logs and Git repositories for uncommitted changes. The candidate should have a desire to work behind the scenes with a team to see large projects through from start to finish. They need to be knowledgeable about the most recent releases and standards of WordPress and take pride in their communication skills, being able to explain technical issues in an understandable way. The role emphasizes collaboration, asking for help, and conducting code reviews to support team growth and development.

Requirements

  • 2+ years’ experience working as a backend web developer on production sites
  • 2+ years’ experience working on WordPress sites
  • Experience implementing complex WordPress solutions
  • Ability to work remotely with little-to-no supervision
  • Experience writing code with a focus on security and performance
  • Experience working with at least one automated testing framework
  • Demonstrated experience developing on the WordPress platform
  • Thorough understanding of the software development life cycle
  • Experience working in an agency and/or as a contractor

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Javascript, React, jQuery, CSS, HTML
  • Experience with PHP 7+, MySQL, WordPress, jQuery, Linux
  • Experience working with APIs and creating/consuming web services using SOAP and REST protocols
  • Understanding of XML for transferring data

Responsibilities

  • Develop custom solutions using the WordPress framework
  • Oversee and execute the implementation of new feature requests
  • Advise on and support WordPress best practices
  • Work with Project Managers to understand technical aspects and estimate effort
  • Review code and pull requests from other developers
  • Set up code repositories and remote development installations
  • Implement continuous integration and automated deployment pipelines
  • Coordinate releases with partner IT groups
  • Assist other developers and seek help when needed
