About The Position

About J2 Health: J2 Health is transforming how healthcare organizations design and manage provider networks—one of the most critical yet overlooked levers in delivering high-value care. Today, both consumers and payers struggle to identify the right doctors due to fragmented data and manual processes. J2’s platform combines best-in-class data with purpose-built software to help healthcare organizations build smarter networks that meet patients’ medical and personal needs. We’re a mission-driven team of healthcare insiders, data experts, and technologists—backed by leading investors like Tiger Global and Primary Ventures—taking a thoughtful, nimble approach to growth as we scale a product that’s already delivering real value to customers. The Role: We’re looking for a Full Stack Software Engineer to join our team and help us build the next generation of our network adequacy SaaS platform. This is an opportunity to contribute across the stack while developing mastery in building scalable, high-quality software. You will work closely with senior engineers who prioritize mentorship, with direct support and guidance from your manager. This role is ideal for someone with 2–3 years of experience who is eager to take on more ownership, strengthen full‑stack skills, and work on complex problems involving data, logic, and performance. This is an NYC-based role (in-person work expected 3 days per week).

Requirements

  • 2–3 years of professional full stack engineering experience (not a new grad role).
  • Strong familiarity with modern frontend development; experience with React required.
  • Experience with backend development using a web framework such as Django, Rails, or equivalent; Python/Django experience is a strong plus
  • Experience building and shipping features in a production environment
  • Comfort working across the stack and eagerness to continue developing full-stack depth
  • Enthusiasm for using AI tools to increase efficiency and code quality
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced startup environment with low ego and high ownership

Responsibilities

  • Build end-to-end product features across the frontend and backend, including designing, implementing, testing, and deploying code
  • Contribute to the rebuild of our core adequacy application, enhancing both the React-based frontend and backend services
  • Help scale our network adequacy calculations from a single-state process to support all 50 states
  • Collaborate with product, data, and engineering teammates to scope and deliver well‑architected solutions
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code using modern frameworks and best practices
  • Use AI tools to accelerate development and improve build quality
  • Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and continuous improvement of engineering processes

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation, stock options, and health insurance
  • Commuter Benefits
  • Unlimited PTO: take the time you need when you need it
  • Stipend for at-home work machine and equipment
  • A world-class team of fun, welcoming, ego-free, proven entrepreneurs with whom to build lifelong relationships
