About The Position

Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. In this role, you will require a solid foundation in software engineering principles, a drive to solve problems, and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement. You will play a key role in building and supporting scalable software solutions that are of critical gUP priority.

In gTech Users and Products (gUP), our mission is to advocate for Google’s users by creating helpful and trusted experiences across the product ecosystem. We achieve this by meeting partners and consumers where they are with support and help, representing their needs with our product partners and proposing fixes and features that elevate their engagement with Google's product ecosystem. Additionally we provide a range of product services that ensure our products are optimized for every user, no matter where they are in the world (e.g., localization, digitization, partner integration and more).

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience programming in Java.
• 2 years of experience programming in Typescript.

Nice To Haves

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• 2 years of experience with data structures and algorithms in either an academic or industry setting.
• 2 years of experience with performance, large-scale systems data analysis, visualization tools, or debugging.
• Experience with Machine Learning (ML).
• Proficiency in code and system health, diagnosis and resolution, and software test engineering.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software features and components for full stack development.
• Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
• Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
• Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
• Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
