About The Position

Full Stack Software Engineer Opportunity at Stanford Federal Credit Union Stanford Federal Credit Union (SFCU) is on a mission to improve financial lives. As a member‑owned, not‑for‑profit financial institution, we serve over 95,000 members worldwide, including employees of Stanford University and many of Silicon Valley’s most innovative companies. We are seeking a Full Stack Software Engineer to help design, build, and maintain modern digital banking applications and integrations. This role is best suited for a mid‑level engineer who enjoys hands‑on development, learning new systems, and collaborating closely with business and technology partners. This position is hybrid, based onsite in Palo Alto, CA

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or equivalent professional experience
  • 3–5 years of professional software development experience, including full‑stack application development
  • Hands‑on experience building applications using: Modern front‑end frameworks such as React (Angular is a plus) Back‑end technologies such as Node.js or Python Relational databases using SQL
  • Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs with an understanding of secure coding practices
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to debug and resolve application issues
  • Ability to work independently while managing priorities in a collaborative, deadline‑driven environment
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to financial services, banking, or credit union environments
  • Familiarity with legacy systems or languages (e.g., Perl)
  • Experience with project tracking tools such as Jira

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable full‑stack applications
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well‑tested code across front‑end and back‑end components
  • Build and consume secure APIs and third‑party integrations
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application issues in development and production environments
  • Collaborate with product managers, business stakeholders, and IT teams to understand requirements and deliver practical technical solutions
  • Participate in code reviews and follow established development and release processes
  • Contribute to technical documentation and team knowledge sharing
  • Support ongoing improvements and gradual modernization of existing applications
