About The Team: The Onboarding Experience (OX) team builds patient-facing systems that connect patients to Color’s Virtual Cancer Clinic and guide them through personalized Cancer Risk Assessments (CRA). We translate patient responses into cancer risk evaluations that power downstream experiences like dashboards, messaging, care team scheduling, and kit fulfillment. As a metrics-driven team, we ground product development in data—testing hypotheses, monitoring funnel performance, and refining experiences to maximize impact. In this role, you will deliver patient-centered solutions that increase cancer screening adherence and improve health outcomes at scale. About The Role: We’re looking for an experienced full stack Software Engineer II to help us build and scale our healthcare platform. You’ll develop innovative new features that impact people’s health and lives. As a Color engineer, you’ll build out new products, improve the usability, performance and architecture of our existing products and services. This is a mid-level position, suitable for those with experience building complex software as part of a high-performing team. No background or expertise in healthcare is required.

Requirements

  • A passion for using software and technology to help save lives, and reduce the risk of populations to a multitude of diseases. You want to apply your skills in the service of a greater mission.
  • 3+ years of industry experience as a software engineer (or equivalent role).
  • Experience building and launching numerous features, products or systems successfully into the wild and iterated to incorporate user feedback.
  • A commitment to quality of code; you will work hard to eliminate unnecessary duplication or awkward workarounds.
  • You're passionate about rigorous engineering practices and discipline: code reviews, automated testing, logging, monitoring, alerting, etc.
  • Effective communication skills, with a proven ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical collaborators: you identify core challenges in complex situations, explain trade offs, and incorporate feedback to make decisions using code reviews, docs, wikis, meetings, and other channels as needed.
  • Experience with modern web stacks.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Python
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in React

Nice To Haves

  • You’re productive in one or several items from our technology stack including Django, Typescript, REST APIs, AWS, and SQL.
  • Experience defining product roadmaps in close collaboration with Product Managers, Designers, Researchers and other stakeholders.

  • Design, build, and iterate on products and features that address long-standing challenges in healthcare—creating exceptional, integrated experiences in collaboration with product, design, data, and clinical teams.
  • You’ll work across the full technical stack to enhance the quality, reliability, and speed of Color’s core services, propose architectural improvements, and apply data-driven experimentation to continuously evolve our offerings.
  • Smarter onboarding funnels: Develop flexible, campaign-driven onboarding and referral experiences that expand reach and increase patient engagement for Color’s Virtual Cancer Clinic.
  • Modular Cancer Risk Assessment: Transform the CRA into reusable, independent modules that simplify maintenance, streamline testing, and enable campaign-specific innovation.
  • Marketing site modernization: Help evolve color.com with a modern CMS, empowering the Brand Design team to tell our story effectively while ensuring accessibility and performance.
  • Data-informed iteration: Use data science techniques to test hypotheses, track performance, and drive improvements in app conversion and cancer screening adherence alongside the Engagement Marketing team.
