This position is crucial as it provides technical support for multiple Kemper Auto applications and system software technologies, focusing on both front-end and back-end development to support our underwriting team. The successful candidate will own and resolve complex technical problems and issues with assigned applications and work processes, ensuring that our systems operate smoothly and efficiently. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, documenting, and executing unit test cases, delivering quality and timely results. You will also review and recommend test plans for impacted areas and ensure comprehensive end-to-end test coverage. Compliance with corporate, department, and team policies and procedures is essential, and you will keep your manager and project teams informed of activities and problems within your areas of responsibility. You will also have the opportunity to recommend improvements to existing processes or propose new ones to enhance the quality of project deliverables. As a Java Software Developer, you will consult with internal and external customers on the utilization of applications computing technologies, ensuring that they optimize the value of those technologies. You will lead projects across technical disciplines, plan for the appropriate resources needed, and develop the technical knowledge and performance skills of IS project teams for multiple applications. Additionally, you will research, evaluate, and recommend new technologies, implementing and supporting proof-of-concept activities for these technologies. Your role will also involve guiding teams on long-term solutions for frequently occurring production problems and reducing defect leakage. You will ensure that code is developed per standards with a focus on maintainability and that unit test cases are documented and executed with recorded test results. Following the technical design presented by the architects is crucial, as is ensuring that batch cycles are executed according to plan and that defects are resolved accurately and timely.
