About The Position

UW is on a mission to simplify utilities by offering energy, broadband, mobile, and insurance all in one place, aiming to double in size. As a Full Stack Engineer, you will join the Partner Pillar, a dedicated team focused on developing applications for UW's partners. Your team utilizes a modern tech stack including Go, GraphQL, and TypeScript to build critical features such as lead routing, partner onboarding, and appointment scheduling. You will collaborate closely with your squad to define key metrics and iterate on projects across the company's website and mobile apps, empowering partners to manage their businesses effectively. This role involves direct participation in the entire software development lifecycle, ensuring the delivery of robust and scalable technical solutions.

Requirements

  • Technical Mastery: A strong command of backend development (e.g., Go, gRPC) and familiarity with event-driven systems like Kafka.
  • Frontend Knowledge: Fluency with tools such as React, TypeScript, GraphQL, and gRPC.
  • Quality Standards: The ability to define what quality software looks like and hold yourself and others to that standard.
  • Operational Skills: Competence in observing solutions, creating automated alerts, and identifying the severity of production incidents.
  • Adaptability: Comfort working in a dynamic, iterative development environment within a regulated framework.

Responsibilities

  • Writing production-ready code: Delivering tested, easily understood code while maintaining technical diagrams and documentation.
  • Driving Delivery: Breaking down large stories into smaller chunks, providing execution plans, and remaining persistent in the face of blockers.
  • Operational Ownership: Participating in the on-call rota for your team and responding to production issues using relevant playbooks.
  • Strategic Contribution: Participating in defining team goals and evaluating proposed work against the wider company mission.
  • Cultural Leadership: Proactively fixing issues, proposing solutions to process gaps, and helping to explain the UW culture to others.
