About The Position

Hertz’s TNC (Transportation Network Companies) team builds the backbone for our partnerships with top rideshare platforms like Uber and Lyft. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2-4+ years hands-on software engineering experience.
  • Strong development experience in at least one modern backend language, such as Java, C++, Python, or Go.
  • Solid understanding of data modeling, SQL or NoSQL databases, and API design and development (REST, GraphQL, or gRPC).
  • Experience developing and deploying solutions on AWS, GCP, Azure, or other cloud environments; exposure to containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and working in agile teams.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to work cross-functionally and with external partners.
  • Demonstrated history of adapting to new technologies and practices as the team and business evolve.

Nice To Haves

  • Development experience with React JavaScript framework is a plus.
  • Experience with telematics, mobility, ride-sharing, or third-party platform integrations.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop: Architect and implement robust backend systems supporting high-volume, low-latency integrations between Hertz and TNC partners.
  • Full stack contributions: Building user-facing features using modern web and backend frameworks.
  • Project lifecycle: Participate in all phases, from requirements analysis, design, and proof-of-concept, to development, testing, launch, and ongoing support.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, engineers, and external partners to define requirements and deliver solutions that support business goals.
  • Technical leadership: Share knowledge, mentor team members, and help shape our team’s engineering best practices.
  • Continuous improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and architectural enhancements.
