FRDA is seeking a Full Stack Developer to design and build next-generation software platforms that fuse machine learning, data analytics, and mission-focused user interfaces in high-risk, data-sensitive environments. This position plays a key role in delivering secure, privacy-conscious applications for defense, intelligence, and field operations. You will work across the entire technology stack integrating front-end interfaces, REST APIs, databases, and cloud/container services while maintaining a strong focus on protecting user identity, minimizing data exposure, and enabling edge-capable functionality. Your work will directly contribute to real-world mission resilience and decision-making. In contested or surveilled environments, application design is more than just usability; it's operational security, digital discipline, and privacy assurance. Your work as a Full Stack Developer at FRDA will directly support the freedom of movement, autonomy, and anonymity of users operating at the tactical edge.

  • Design and develop responsive, privacy-respecting web and desktop applications using modern front-end frameworks (e.g. React, Vue.js, or Svelte).
  • Build and maintain secure, scalable back-end services using Python (FastAPI, Flask), Node.js, or similar server-side technologies.
  • Integrate with databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, SQLite) and data pipelines in mission-relevant environments.
  • Implement authentication/authorization flows using modern security standards (OAuth2, JWT, SAML) and access control best practices.
  • Build and expose AI/ML capabilities through backend APIs and intuitive user interfaces.
  • Implement application and network-layer encryption, secure logging, and sensitive data handling controls.
  • Containerize applications (Docker) and support deployment to edge, tactical, and cloud environments (e.g. AWS GovCloud, Azure Government).
  • Participate in threat modeling, secure code reviews, and DevSecOps pipelines.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, mobile engineers, and mission stakeholders to rapidly prototype and iterate on mission-driven capabilities.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical field.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience as a full stack developer working on production systems.
  • Proficient in front-end technologies: React, Vue, or similar.
  • Proficient in back-end technologies: Python (FastAPI, Flask), Node.js, or equivalent.
  • Experience with databases: PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or SQLite.
  • Experience with secure REST API design and development.
  • Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and version control best practices.
  • Strong understanding of security-first development: input validation, encryption, access control.
  • Eligible to obtain TS/SCI clearance.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
  • Experience developing platforms that incorporate AI/ML models into the back-end (e.g. model serving with TorchServe, ONNX, or TensorFlow Serving).
  • Background in secure system design, privacy-by-design architecture, or zero-trust principles.
  • Knowledge of data minimization, telemetry obfuscation, and pseudonymization strategies.
  • Experience with message queues (e.g. Redis, RabbitMQ), async processing, or WebSocket-based systems.
  • Familiarity with system deployment to austere/edge environments, air-gapped systems, or offline-first applications.
  • Experience working on DoD, IC, or privacy-focused civilian systems.
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform), or reverse proxy configuration (NGINX, Traefik).
  • Contributions to secure open-source platforms or privacy tech projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Prior experience building mission-specific dashboards, command-and-control platforms, or secure user portals.
