About The Position

CSM Tile Co., Inc. is a growing commercial flooring contractor seeking a Full-Charge Construction Bookkeeper & Accounting Specialist to take full ownership of all accounting, finance, and payroll functions for the company. This is a senior, high-responsibility role for a construction accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced, project-driven environment and takes pride in accuracy, accountability, and process excellence. This position is critical to the success of our operations and works closely with ownership, and managers. The Full-Charge Construction Bookkeeper & Accounting Specialist is responsible for end-to-end financial management across all commercial construction projects and company operations. This role is responsible for all bookkeeping functions, as well as senior level accounting functions including but not limited to: financial management, financial & income statements, month-end/year end closings, chart of accounts, WIP reporting, journal entries, job cost tracking & updating, full AP accountability, AR reporting, collections functions, manage banking functions, cash-flow management, bank reconciliations, payroll, taxes, employee benefits & insurance administration and internal controls creation & enforcement to help CSM Tile scale in a structured and disciplined way.

Requirements

  • Accounting and/or bookkeeping education is required.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably with a commercial subcontractor or general contractor; candidates with slightly less experience may be considered.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Office, & advanced Excel skills required.
  • Proven full-charge construction bookkeeper & accounting specialist who can work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and deadline-driven.
  • Confident decision-maker with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Clear and professional communicator who works well with the team.
  • Process-oriented mindset with the desire to improve systems and workflows.
  • Professional, dependable, and capable of handling confidential information.

Nice To Haves

  • CFMA, CPA, ABA, CPB, CMAA or similar certification is a plus.
  • Strong experience with construction accounting software, ERP’s and HRIS systems desired (Foundation Software experience is a plus).
  • Demonstrated experience with AIA billing, lien waivers, certified payroll, and job costing (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Assume full responsibility for all company financial functions and accounting operations.
  • Maintain the general ledger, journal entries, chart of accounts, banking functions and job cost structures.
  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Prepare accurate financial and income statements for leadership.
  • Track work-in-process (WIP), labor, equipment, and project-related expenses.
  • Work with external CPA to perform quarterly and annual reporting, tax preparation and track depreciation of fixed assets.
  • Oversee all AP & AR functions.
  • Manage vendor accounts, relationships, invoices, & payments
  • Track deposits, receipts, credit card transactions, and outstanding balances.
  • Manage banking relationships, monitor daily cashflow, create cashflow projections and perform monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Process payroll accurately and complete certified payroll as needed.
  • Manage payroll, taxes, and employee benefits administration
  • Manage employee onboarding & offboarding, take charge of employee documentation, updates, safety training, and process improvements
  • Prepare and support AIA billings, lien waivers, and notarize documents.
  • Process the AIA billing and send to General Contractors.
  • Administrate certificates of insurance and declaration requirements, as well as any required updates during jobs for General Contractors.
  • Develop, refine and enforce accounting systems, financial controls, internal procedures, & financial business practices.
  • Build and maintain Excel-based financial models, schedules, and reports.
  • Take a leadership role in the financial trajectory of the company by acting as a key financial advisor to the president, with the express goal of growing the company.
  • Maintain & create SOP’s relating to this position
