About The Position

Are you passionate about helping independent business owners succeed in the fuels and c-store industry? We're looking for a Fuels Marketing Area Manager to support 40-50 locations across Maryland—ranging from Baltimore and Southern MD to Central and Western parts of the state. In this field-based role, you'll be the face of The Wills Group, working closely with dealers and operators to drive fuel volume, elevate site image, and improve the customer experience. You'll use your industry knowledge and strong relationship-building skills to help operators grow their fuel, c-store, and auto bay businesses.

Requirements

  • Fuels and c-store experience is a must.
  • 2-5 years in retail operations, wholesale fuel, or account/territory management.
  • Experience supporting or working with independent business owners.
  • Comfortable analyzing P&Ls and making territory-based business decisions.
  • Bachelor's degree (or 9+ years of equivalent progressive experience).
  • Strong communicator with a collaborative mindset and customer-first approach.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Power BI a plus.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel regularly throughout Maryland.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of open dealers, lessee dealers, and management fee operators.
  • Grow fuel volume and drive profitability across your assigned territory.
  • Build trusted, long-term relationships with operators—providing ongoing support, guidance, and resources.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve site issues and drive improvement in image and performance.
  • Stay on top of financial metrics, territory P&L, and routine capital planning.
  • Support operational excellence by ensuring compliance with Shell brand standards (targeting 95-97% inspection scores).
  • Maintain a strong pipeline of qualified retailers—aiming for zero closed stores.
