About The Position

The Fuel Terminal Maintenance Operations Technician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and supporting the operational readiness of terminal equipment, systems, and facilities. This role ensures that all mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation assets function reliably and safely to support continuous fuel storage, transfer, and distribution activities. The Technician also maintains terminal grounds to ensure a safe, clean, and compliant environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical/vocational training in industrial maintenance, mechanical, or electrical fields preferred.
  • 2–4 years of experience in industrial maintenance, petroleum terminal, refinery, or pipeline operations preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and equipment diagrams.
  • Hands-on troubleshooting skills in pumps, motors, and automated systems.
  • Grounds maintenance and landscaping skills, including safe use of mowing and weed-control equipment.
  • Strong safety awareness and ability to follow strict safety protocols.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces or elevated areas.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, and respond to after-hours emergencies.
  • Ability to wear required PPE, including respirators and protective gear.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance on pumps, valves, meters, compressors, piping, loading racks, instrumentation, and control systems.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic issues to minimize downtime.
  • Conduct regular inspections of terminal equipment, tanks, and pipelines to identify potential failures or hazards.
  • Support calibration of flow meters, gauges, and automation systems.
  • Maintain maintenance logs and records of repairs, inspections, and parts usage.
  • Assist in day-to-day terminal operations, including product receipt, storage, and distribution.
  • Support truck and pipeline loading/unloading activities when required.
  • Collaborate with operations technicians to ensure safe and efficient terminal performance.
  • Respond to operational emergencies such as equipment failures, power outages, or leaks.
  • Adhere to OSHA, EPA, DOT, and PHMSA safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain knowledge of spill prevention, response protocols, and hazardous materials handling.
  • Support terminal safety audits, inspections, and environmental compliance reporting.
  • Ensure use of proper PPE and enforce safe work practices.
  • Conduct general facility maintenance, including electrical systems, lighting, HVAC, and structural upkeep.
  • Maintain terminal grounds, including mowing, weed eating, and weed control to ensure safe and professional appearance of the property.
  • Perform snow/ice removal and other seasonal groundskeeping as required.
  • Coordinate with contractors and vendors on major repairs or projects.
  • Maintain spare parts inventory to support reliability and reduce downtime
