About The Position

Inside the Role Lead Fuel Systems Design team in development, validation, problem resolution, and documentation on Freightliner and Western Star products. This team is responsible for all fuels, including diesel, octane, natural gas, and hydrogen. Component responsibilities include diesel fuel water separators, fuel coolers, and high pressure fuel lines to the pre-SCR, octane evaporative cannisters and fuel pumps, fuel filter and coolant plumbing for natural gas, and fuel line plumbing for all fuels. DTNA 's Powertrain department within Product Engineering is a dynamic new product development group responsible for integration of powertrain systems, whether conventional or advanced technology. We Take Care of Our Team Position offers a starting salary range of $117,000 - $150,000 USD Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience. What You Drive at DTNA Current projects include 2027 fuel water separator specifications and compatibility for PARs 47A and 46Q, new fuel plumbing for the Cummins B7.2, and potential fuel plumbing and tee impacts and complexity reduction in PARs 47F and 47V. Also support development of L9N fuel systems in PAR 47F. Drive home the ramp up to production of Octane fuel in PAR 46C Innovate and collaborate on future projects including fuel water separator improvements, complexity reduction, optimized fuel line design and connections, and Quality and Manufacturing improvements. Responsible for project management for assigned projects: scope, timelines, deliverables. Present status updates in TSMs or other forums when needed. Work proactively and independently and prioritize assignments consistent with business goals. Escalate when appropriate. Design and validate safe, reliable, serviceable, and competitive designs Collaborate well with partners: Design, DTMX, Manufacturing, After-Market, Purchasing, EPM, PVE, Product Strategy. Manage supplier projects and lead them in development and validation of components to DTNA specifications Provide quality and timely solutions to production problems and field issues Participate in implementation of cross-functional ideas to continuously improve work environment, systems, tools, and processes as well as product cost and quality

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree In Engineering/ Engineering Technology or related, with 5-7 years of experience
  • Demonstrated CAD experience for part/tubing design, drawings, and layout work
  • Experience with Engineering tools: Engineering Client, IMACS+, ERS+
  • Documentation experience: part release, charting, etc.
  • Demonstrated strong written, verbal, and presentation skills

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with CVDS deliverables and milestones
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis
  • Experience designing hoses or tubes, bent brackets, stamped parts or small castings
  • FEA experience on stamped or cast brackets
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks at hand
  • Able to motivate self and others via collaboration and good team work skills
  • Willing to mentor interns or others and share knowledge/best practices
