About The Position
The Fuel Supply Operator at NorthStar Clean Energy plays a crucial role in the operation and maintenance of equipment related to wood fuel handling and ash handling systems. This position is essential for ensuring the efficient and safe operation of the Genesee Power Station, a renewable energy facility that utilizes biomass materials to generate electricity. The operator will be responsible for a variety of moderately complex systems, adhering to established procedures while performing equipment operation and record-keeping duties. The role also includes housekeeping and maintenance tasks to maintain a clean and safe work environment. The operator will be expected to operate heavy equipment, including large mobile machinery such as CAT D8 Dozers and CAT 938 loaders. A thorough understanding of these machines and their operational procedures is necessary. The position requires effective communication skills to collaborate with co-workers and take direction from supervisors. Additionally, the operator must have a solid understanding of fuel and ash handling systems, as well as the ability to perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on mobile equipment. This position is non-union and reports directly to the Operations Supervisor at the Genesee Power Station. The operator will work a rotating 12-hour shift on a 28-day cycle, which may include overtime, weekends, and holidays. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory, and the operator must be fitted for and wear such equipment while on duty. The role is vital for maintaining the operational integrity of the plant and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.
