This is skilled work in the management and distribution of fuel, lubricants and maintenance of Marathon County Highway Department buildings and grounds. Work may include routine servicing and maintenance of assigned equipment. Work may extend to operation of equipment of a higher grade in accordance with established procedures. Work is performed in accordance with orders and instructions and accepted trade practices, with the employee expected to vary operating techniques in response to conditions. Employees in this class are expected to exercise independent judgment on the job. Work assignments are received from a supervisor. Examples of Work Performed: The following duties are typical of this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required or assigned. Perform required State of Wisconsin monthly inspections and document Routine inspection of fuel island barriers and report as needed Routine inspection and replacement of fuel dispensing gun nozzles, hoses and fuel dispensing components as required Routine maintenance if the replacement of fuel dispensing filters Perform required fire extinguisher monthly inspections at four Marathon County Highway Department facilities Coordinate the distribution and deliver fuel to a variety of Marathon County Construction Equipment at multiple construction sites, up to 2000 gallons daily, May through September Maintain records of fuel distribution to county equipment at remote sites. Perform maintenance and repairs on over twenty-five Marathon County Highway Department buildings. Maintenance and repairs include but are not limited to: HVAC- diagnosing and repairing or replacing inoperative components and by-weekly replacing filters Maintaining and repairing used oil furnace Lighting- diagnosing and repairing or replacing inoperative lights, including rewiring or upgrading fixtures to LED Plumbing- diagnosing and repairing water leaks Buildings- Repairs including roof leaks, rain gutters, damage to buildings, refurbish and painting of buildings Operate and maintain man lift and other necessary equipment to maintain and repair county buildings and grounds. Serve as lead worker; directs work of lower level employees for assigned projects.
