About The Position

The Safety/Security Manager at the Kentucky Science Center is responsible for overseeing the safety and security functions for team members, guests, and properties. This role involves assisting the senior manager in ensuring adherence to safety protocols, managing security personnel, and facilitating training for emergency procedures. The position requires effective communication and quick decision-making in emergency situations, as well as maintaining a professional environment for both staff and visitors.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED.
• 1-2 years of experience in safety or security procedures or a similar role.
• Good judgment and responsibility for individuals and property.
• Dependable with the ability to work flexible hours, including nights and holidays.
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written).
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the security and safety functions of the Kentucky Science Center during public and non-public hours.
• Adhere to and reinforce all safety protocols.
• Assist with the opening and closing of the Center in a timely manner.
• Handle emergencies effectively with minimum casualties and property damage.
• Communicate evacuation and emergency instructions clearly to staff and emergency personnel.
• Minimize injuries, theft, and related problems through appropriate action or communication.
• Respond to security and other after-hours emergencies as directed.
• Document all incidents with written reports as per procedures.
• Facilitate training of all emergency procedures and policies for team members.
• Maintain professionalism in performing assigned duties and responsibilities.
• Support the corporate philosophy and ensure adherence to work rules, policies, and procedures.
• Develop effective working relationships with staff and provide excellent customer service.
