About The Position

The Program Head, Information Technology Network Management, works on the leadership and day-to-day functioning of the program(s) or assigned area(s) to attain the goal of providing quality educational experiences for students. The Program Head, Information Technology Network Management, provides excellent learning experiences, facilitates the learning process, seeks and provides professional development opportunities, contributes to the development of curriculum courses/programs and interacts with community/industry members.

Requirements

• Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Degree in Information Technology (IT) or a closely related field.
• Two years of experience in an IT-related field.
• Current Cisco CCST Networking or higher certification.
• Demonstrated experience with network infrastructure, routing/switching, server administration, virtualization, and cloud technologies.

• Bachelor's Degree in the CIS/IT field
• Master's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Networking, Cybersecurity, or a closely related field
• CCNA or higher
• MCSE or other Microsoft certifications
• CompTIA Network+ or Security+
• Cisco Networking Academy CCNA teaching accreditation
• 3-5 years of professional work experience in IT networking, systems administration, or related field

Responsibilities

• Teach program material via seated, online, and/or off-campus classes as required by the schedule.
• Learn new material and software to keep up with technological changes.
• Facilitate regular and substantive interaction with students through proactive, professional communication.
• Participate in student recruitment and retention activities.
• Ensure classrooms, labs, and equipment are maintained in good repair, safe, and clean.
• Serve as a mentor to students in your area of expertise, providing academic and career guidance.
• Represent the program within the College and community as the primary point of contact with enthusiasm.
• Provide supervision and support to other faculty teaching within the program.
• Coordinate advisory boards, program updates, curriculum revisions, and scheduling of courses.
• Recruit, interview, and recommend faculty (full-time and adjunct) to the Dean/AVP; provide orientation.
• Submit all hiring documents and credential verifications for faculty.
• Assist faculty in course planning, instructional delivery, and classroom management.
• Prepare a master schedule of course offerings each semester and assign teaching schedules.
• Supervise and evaluate departmental faculty, including classroom observations.
• Identify and recommend faculty professional development needs.
• Resolve student grievances with instructors when necessary.
• Communicate departmental and college information to faculty.
• Advocate for and motivate faculty while encouraging sound educational practices and student engagement.
• Select educational resources and coordinate textbook orders.
• Review, evaluate, and assess departmental goals, student learning outcomes, and course offerings; recommend revisions.
• Ensure program compliance with accreditation, certification, and state/federal standards.
• Develop and maintain productive relationships with agencies, industry partners, and accrediting bodies.
• Manage and resolve internal departmental conflicts.
• Create and monitor employee performance improvement plans (PIPs) when warranted.
• Recommend departmental needs (personnel, equipment, supplies, facilities) during annual planning.
• Coordinate requisition of instructional resources, services, and materials.
• Verify and submit faculty travel requests for approval.
• Manage departmental budget and monitor expenditures with inventory control methods.
• Teach a full-time load (15-18 contact hours per semester), including academic success courses as needed.
• Ensure course sessions incorporate essential curricular components, appropriate pedagogy/andragogy, and current trends.
• Develop and distribute course syllabi per established guidelines.
• Evaluate student progress, provide timely feedback, and maintain accurate records.
• Incorporate instructional technology to enhance student learning.
• Coordinate evaluation and acquisition of instructional materials, audiovisual aids, and equipment.
• Ensure proper operation of lab/classroom equipment, reporting malfunctions promptly.
• Teach or instruct effectively, including students without a technical background.
• Maintain at least five office hours per week for student accessibility.
• Serve as an academic and career mentor, assisting with educational and employment planning.
• Participate in semester advising, registration, and graduation audit verification.
• Advocate for and motivate students in their academic success.
• Assist students with career opportunities in conjunction with Student Services.
• Prepare and submit grades, records, and reports accurately and on time.
• Stay current in discipline and instructional methods through professional development.
• Facilitate program and curriculum review.
• Serve actively on committees and participate in campus activities.
• Maintain regular professional communication with colleagues, the college, and industry contacts.
• Maintain posted office/on-campus hours sufficient to fulfill all duties.
• Support all functions of the College and comply with policies.
• Establish and maintain an effective program advisory committee.
• Develop and instruct courses in Network Management, Computer Science, CISCO Networking, and related fields.
• Create, administer, grade, and maintain records for exams, projects, and assignments.
• Review and recommend program texts and resources.
• Participate in course/curriculum revision as needed.
• Assist the Co-op Director in locating appropriate student placements.
• Establish industry contacts and arrange guest speakers, field trips, and other experiential opportunities.
• Recommend and help install hardware/software for labs; assist in equipment and server maintenance.
• Participate in professional organizations, conferences, and workshops.
• Participate in evening programs as part of normal load.
• Work productively with colleagues as a team.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
