The Security Guard is a vital part of the Police Department team, as they provide the department with an essential component to the overall crime-fighting strategies implemented by the Chief of Police. Their primary responsibility is to provide access security to LCC's Downtown and West Campus. Other responsibilities include enforcing security protocols, checking identification, and reporting any suspicious activities observed. This position also provides occasional foot patrols while exercising a high level of situational awareness. They are responsible for reporting such incidents as crimes in progress, hazardous material incidents, weather emergencies, criminal activity, life safety, physical security, and other threats/hazards to campus personnel and property. The Security Guard will also work in collaboration with the Police Officers, serving as additional eyes and ears. Connecting with the diverse college community, this position will provide a high level of customer service while providing door security by greeting community members as they access buildings and providing assistance when needed. The Security Guard may be required to assist with door security for special events by providing access control. They will also perform any additional assigned tasks given to them by the Supervisor. Regular on campus presence is expected for all LCC employment. Any flexible work schedules and/or hybrid work schedules approved by the College are subject to change based on the needs of the LCC community. Final candidates will be subject to a criminal background check as part of the employment process.

  • High School graduate or have equivalent GED
  • Valid driver's license with less than 6 points
  • Demonstrated customer service experience
  • Previous security/guard work experience
