About The Position

Long Beach Community College District is seeking a full-time tenure Technical Theatre - Scenic Design Professor for the fall 2025 semester. This role involves curriculum development, participation in shared governance, and teaching responsibilities across various campuses. Requirements

  • Master's or Master of Fine Arts in drama/theatre arts/performance, or a Bachelor's in drama/theatre arts/performance with a Master's in a related field.
  • A bachelor's degree in Theater or a related field with at least five years of professional work experience in areas such as directing, acting, scenic design, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • Evidence of ability to address instructional needs of varying student levels using innovative teaching strategies.
  • Recent community college or lower division teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in set design and proficiency in building scale models and drawing set renderings.
  • Master of Fine Arts Degree in Theatre Arts with an emphasis in Scenic and/or lighting design.
  • Commitment to work with students outside of the classroom.
  • Desire to participate actively in committees and shared governance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Proficiency in set design computer programs.

  • Integrate new technologies into the learning process, including interactive technologies for on-campus and online courses.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
