About The Position

Full-time faculty are professional educators with the primary responsibility of providing a quality learning experience for all Robeson Community College students. Faculty are responsible for but are not limited to planning, organizing, promoting, and teaching appropriate courses for Robeson Community College. Faculty are expected to perform all instruction-related duties in a timely manner and in accordance with the mission, policies, and procedures of the College, the North Carolina Community College System, and with appropriate accrediting entities where applicable. Faculty are also responsible for providing placement, advising, follow-up support services and performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in an Information Technology field.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a quality learning experience for all Robeson Community College students.
  • Plan, organize, promote and teach appropriate courses for Robeson Community College.
  • Perform all instruction-related duties in a timely manner and in accordance with the mission, policies and procedures of the College, the North Carolina Community College System, and with appropriate accrediting bodies where applicable.
  • Provide placement, advising, follow-up support services and other duties as assigned.
  • Implement and assess identified program and institutional student learning outcomes.
  • Serve on department and college committees as requested.
  • Research and recommend for approval program advisory committee members to the administration following established policy and procedure.
  • Interact with the program advisory committee to determine state-of-the-art practices, procedures, and equipment related to maintaining an up-to-date instructional program.
  • Assist with the research and development of information necessary to teach the appropriate courses.
  • Monitor professional information sources to determine trends and innovations in one's field.
  • Plan and organize the curriculum as approved by the RCC Board of Trustees and other accrediting entities.
  • Identify and/or develop instructional materials needed to teach the program competencies.
  • Assist in the development of program competencies for all courses in the program major.
  • Develop course syllabi that outline clear and appropriate learning outcomes.
  • Utilize the course description set forth in the common course library when developing or assessing learning objectives.
  • Develop appropriate assessments of established learning outcomes for all courses taught.
  • Report student progress in mastering established learning outcomes.
  • Provide effective instruction which demonstrates appropriate knowledge of his/her specialized field.
  • Teach an appropriate instructional course load in accordance with policies outlined in the Faculty Handbook.
  • Demonstrate the effective use of pedagogical methods to meet various student learning styles.
  • Administer appropriate assessment and/or testing to measure student learning outcomes.
  • Maintain appropriate classroom standards including effective management of students and facilities.
  • Order textbooks, instructional materials, and supplies as needed for instruction.
  • Develop and recommend class schedules cooperatively with other departments.
  • Identify and/or recommend equipment needed to teach the competencies prescribed in the approved curriculum.
  • Maintain compliance with established Critical Success Factors and performance measures.
  • Provide timely and accurate reports including 10% reports, grade reports, and other required reports.
  • Maintain posted office hours in accordance with requirements outlined in the Faculty Handbook.
  • Be available to students for out-of-class tutorial support.
  • Recruit students for his or her respective program.
  • Serve as an academic advisor to students with advising responsibilities.
  • Participate in the college's registration and orientation sessions as assigned.
  • Maintain student files within the department as required by state and/or local policy.
  • Refer students to Student Services personnel for guidance and resource assistance.
  • Coordinate retention strategies with appropriate faculty and administration.
  • Provide placement assistance to graduates of the assigned program.
  • Provide assistance and information for student follow-up reports.
  • Sponsor and support program enrichment activities.
  • Assist the Department Chair or Program Director in the development of a departmental budget.
  • Assist in the development of bid specifications for instructional equipment.
  • Monitor departmental expenditures to ensure they are within allocated financial resources.
  • Comply with Fiscal Management System policies and procedures.
  • Work a minimum of a 35-hour workweek in accordance with policies outlined in the Faculty Handbook.
  • Assist with the implementation and enforcement of all official policies and procedures.
  • Attend meetings, conferences, seminars, and training sessions.
  • Attend extracurricular functions that promote collegiate life.
  • Serve on local, state, regional and/or national committees upon request.
  • Maintain effective intra-institution relationships with members of the college.
  • Provide appropriate liaison support with the North Carolina Community College System.
  • Promote Robeson Community College with local, state, regional, and national citizenry.
  • Participate in professional development programs upon request.
  • Pursue professional development courses designed to enhance the quality of instruction.
  • Pursue certifications that qualify one's work against recognized standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the appropriate Department Chair or Program Director.
