About The Position
The Engineer position at Ogden City Corporation is a full-time role within the Public Services Department, specifically in the Engineering Division. This position is responsible for performing complex professional and technical engineering work in various areas, including surveying, plan checking, and designing public works projects. The Engineer will work under the general supervision of the City Engineer or Principal Engineer and will collaborate with technical and clerical staff to ensure the successful execution of engineering tasks. Key responsibilities include reviewing plans for public work structures, designing plans for projects such as streets, water utilities, storm drains, and sewers, with a particular focus on storm and sanitary sewers. The Engineer will also generate calculations, oversee design processes, and prepare plans for consulting engineers and private contractors. Additionally, the role involves making technical engineering decisions, maintaining project plans and contract documents, and preparing progress reports on ongoing projects. The Engineer will coordinate activities with outside consultants, engineers, developers, contractors, and other city departments, providing technical support and responding to public inquiries and complaints. The position also requires the preparation of various engineering studies and reports, project management for public works projects, and oversight of city permit issuance. The Engineer will be expected to promote the city's values, participate in safety and risk management activities, and maintain attendance and punctuality as essential functions of the job.
