About The Position

The Fire Science Coordinator at Lansing Community College is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Regional Fire Training Academy and the Fire Science program. This role involves coordinating program planning, scheduling faculty and courses, maintaining relationships with external agencies, and ensuring compliance with state certification requirements. The Coordinator will also manage the application process for the academy, monitor student databases, and maintain training facilities and equipment. This position is integral to fostering an inclusive educational culture and supporting student success within the Technical Careers Division.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field with a minimum of three years of industry-relevant experience; OR an Associate's Degree with a minimum of five years of industry-relevant experience; OR a High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of seven years of industry-relevant experience.
• MFFTC Certified Fire Fighter I & II
• MFFTC Certified Fire Instructor I

Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day operation of the Regional Fire Training Academy and Fire Science program.
• Coordinate the planning and implementation of the academy.
• Schedule faculty and courses for the Fire Science program.
• Provide leadership and program marketing.
• Maintain relationships with external agencies, advisory committees, and industry partners.
• Organize the Regional Fire Training Academy application process.
• Maintain and monitor student database and ranking.
• Organize adjunct fire academy program faculty.
• Monitor and maintain Fire Science equipment, labs, and training facilities.
• Ensure supplies are available for all course and college needs.
