Position Overview: The FSY Assistant Session Admin will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of youth participants at FSY (For the Strength of Youth) sessions across the United States and Canada. This role involves working closely with FSY session administrators and field staff to address and resolve critical situations, particularly those related to youth behavioral and mental health challenges. The Specialist will act as a key point of contact for escalation, coordination, and decision-making in complex and sensitive situations. Key Responsibilities: On-site Support: Attend FSY sessions in the U.S. and Canada to provide real-time support and resolution of critical situations. Collaboration: Work closely with FSY session administrators and field staff to address and resolve youth behavioral and mental health challenges. Liaison: Coordinate with various entities, including: FSY youth participants Church Legal Department Local state agencies for reporting youth abuse disclosures Local ecclesiastical leaders Parents and guardians Family Services Decision-Making: Collaborate with and support the FSY session administrator to determine when it is in the best interest of a youth or the FSY program to send a youth home. Logistics: Facilitate the logistics of a youth's return home when necessary. Reporting: Complete detailed Critical Situation Reports to document the circumstances, actions taken, and outcomes of each situation. Escalation Point: Serve as a point of escalation for unresolved or highly sensitive situations. Process Improvement: Provide feedback and recommendations to improve the processes for resolving critical situations at the conclusion of the summer. Qualifications: Communication Skills: Strong ability to hold sensitive and escalated conversations with various stakeholders. Problem-Solving: Ability to assess and leverage internal and external resources to resolve complex issues. Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational skills to manage and prioritize multiple concurrent situations effectively. Diplomacy: Diplomatic approach in handling delicate situations and interactions. Calm Under Pressure: Ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure scenarios. Empathy: Strong ability to empathize with youth and other stakeholders, understanding their perspectives and needs. De-escalation: Proven experience in de-escalating high-pressure situations. Additional Requirements: Willingness to travel to various FSY session locations across the U.S. and Canada. Experience working with youth in a leadership or support capacity is preferred. Familiarity with the principles and policies of FSY programs is a plus.
