About The Position

This position Assists the FSQA Supervisor in supervising the shift inspectors and inspects food products manufactured or processed by private company to ensure compliance with Food Safety and Specification Adherence, while also adhering to food safety practice and safety policies This position oversees the sanitation cleaning practices and inspects the cleanliness of the equipment. Precision and accuracy in performance of the work instructions and data collection is essential; must be able to maintain ISO records for process control and comply with quality system and safety requirements. This position works with beef, poultry, and pork products, as well as other ingredients that may be a potential allergen. The Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) Technician Lead position is responsible for: Coordinate the activities of the FSQA Technicians and directly address issues of concern with the appropriate members of supervision. Responsible for personal safety and food safety Received the overall plans for each day's activities from the FSQA Management and implement them by breaking them down into detailed work assignments which are carried out by the FSQA Technicians Participate in daily work assignments to accommodate vacations, days off, or other Follow up on the progress of all FSQA Technicians and the production activities taking place during the shift and provide the necessary input to ensure that the FSQA objectives are met Meet the FSQA Technicians at the beginning of the shift and brief them on their specific work assignments, the production schedule, and the areas where extra attention need to be placed during the shift. Responsible for the training and proficiency development of all FSQA Technicians. Review daily FSQA records for accuracy, completeness, and conformance to established requirements Investigate all issues where nonconformance's are identified on their shift and verify that all non-conforming product is properly isolated, identified and placed on Hold. Identify and address the cause of the problem. Inform the FSQA management of all Quality & Food Safety issues which were identified on their shift in a timely manner Inspect product to determine compliance with order specifications, company's quality control system for compliance with legal requirements, and shipping and packing facilities for conformity to specified standards. Understand responsibilities and performs all duties in accordance to USDA, company policy, and established procedures. Performing physical and visual inspections of product, equipment, and plant systems then documenting, and calculating results accurately Back-up for FSQA Supervisor, FSQA Lab Associate, and FSQA Techs Additional assignments requested by Management

Requirements

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2+ year experience in FSQA type position or in Fresh Meats/Prepared Foods Industry required. Preferably leadership experience.
  • Computer Skills: Strong computer skills. General knowledge of Windows Microsoft Office Applications. Must be proficient on computer data entry and analysis, email communication, and understanding file management. Preferably knowledge of EIM systems.
  • Communication Skills: Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to communicate effectively with management.
  • Special Skills: Must possess skills to complete Tyson paperwork; ability to lead by example and motivate the hourly workforce; good problem identification and problem solving skills; math and organizational skills; ability to read and interpret product specifications; must function well under stress; must have flexibility to work where and when needed.
  • Training Programs: The training needs for this job classification have been assessed by the appropriate management team member. The amount and level of training required are dependent on the level of responsibility authorized to team members assigned with this job classification. Aside from the minimum required training, training programs may vary from team member to team member.
  • Difficulty of Duties: Work activities are well defined with clearly stated directions or guidelines. Most work steps are clearly prescribed and cannot be modified. Most work duties require repetitive operations.
  • Physical Requirements: Position involves heavy lifting (70 lbs. or more).
  • Ability to stand on hard surface for up to 12 hours per day
  • Must work in cold/hot temperatures
  • Must be able to work in wet environment
  • Repetitive bending, reaching, squatting, gripping, pushing and pulling
  • Must be able to reach high and low levels, frequently
  • Ability to climb step ladders and or stairs
  • Must be able to work overtime and weekends
  • Position will require Lock Out Tag Out certification
