About The Position

Provide direction and leadership to the food safety team through the application of standards, implementation of food safety and quality assurance programs, and promotion of site-wide food safety culture and continuous improvement. Verify and ensure that foods produced/assembled and distributed through Sheetz Distribution Services (i.e. Distribution Centers & Sheetz Bros. Kitchens) adhere to established food safety & quality standards. Act as SQF Practitioner to the Sheetz Bros. Kitchen and Sheetz Distribution Center at assigned facilities and as a point of contact for food safety recalls, withdrawals, and complaints/issues relating to food safety and quality of foods.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in food safety/science or related field required.
  • Minimum 5 years of Food Safety and Quality experience required.
  • Minimum 2 years prior employee supervisory experience required.
  • Valid Driver's License required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of FSQA staff and maximize the development of internal talent through regular and timely performance coaching, performance reviews, and encouraging developmental opportunities.
  • Align area objectives with the strategic goals of the company & department.
  • Monitor annual budgets for assigned area of responsibility to maximize profitability.
  • Effectively communicate with all Corporate and SDS Management teams to ensure accuracy, timeliness of information, and adherence to established food safety and regulatory programs.
  • Responsibility and authority as Lead SQF practitioner in the SDS - of assigned facility to oversee the development, implementation, review and maintenance of the SQF System, including food safety fundamentals and food safety plans.
  • Take appropriate action to ensure the integrity of the SQF System.
  • Communicate to relevant personnel all information essential to ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of the SQF System.
  • Develop and train substitute SQF practitioner to meet all primary practitioner requirements.
  • Conduct validation and verification activities to ensure the integrity and maintenance of the SQF System.
  • Maintain working knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations applicable to scope of activities within site.
  • Work with FSQA Regulatory Team on matters pertaining to products, product recalls, food defense/fraud relating to the SDS assigned facility.
  • Oversee, train, and coordinate proper receiving, preparation, storage, and shipping of SDS products pertaining to food safety.
  • Verify compliance and drive continuous improvement to FSQA programs such as SQF Systems, SOPs, SSOPs, Food Safety Plans, HACCP, GMPs, GDPs, Specification Verification, Chemical Testing, Allergen Control, Traceability, Packaging, Food Defense/Fraud, etc.
  • Supervise all data collection & product testing regarding on-line product compliance and internal specification requirements.
  • Investigate and maintain documentation on product issues & complaints received from customers (internal/external).
  • Provide support to the FSQA department leadership as needed.
