About The Position

POSITION SUMMARY: This position works alongside the site General Manager, Growing, Production, Logistics, and Sales departments, and the Environmental Health and Safety coordinator in support of specific project and program goals. The FSQA Manager oversees the Sanitation department and personnel; an FSQA Lead who assists with detailed programmatic work; and the Food Safety and Quality Assurance Technicians, who staff Quality Assurance roles in the production environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Safety, Agriculture, or a science or engineering subject
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in food safety and quality management
  • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations, quality management systems, and industry best practices.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is ideal

Responsibilities

  • Understand and apply Global Food Safety Initiative standards and the company’s chosen GFSI-benchmarked scheme (PrimusGFS)
  • HACCP planning
  • Maintain and improve the Food Safety and Quality management system
  • Manage the facility’s environmental monitoring program, including performing or overseeing microbiological sampling and testing
  • Perform or oversee routine facility inspections and internal audits for food safety and quality criteria
  • Oversee FSQA lead position and perform back-up lead duties as necessary.
  • Oversee day-to-day duties of FSQA Lead and Quality Assurance Technicians, which include:
  • Production Quality Control
  • Quality checks of raw, work in process, and finished product in the packinghouse.
  • Analyze finished product according to quality parameters
  • Report to stakeholders on compliance with food safety and quality standards.
  • Facility inspections
  • Oversee Sanitation Department, which includes Sanitation Supervisor position and sanitation employees.
  • Uphold a high standard for greenhouse and facility cleanliness
  • Work with Sanitation, Growing and Production personnel to set goals and priorities for sanitation work
  • Oversee sanitation schedule for facility
  • Oversee inventory and ordering of sanitation products and supplies
  • Conduct or assign job training of sanitation personnel
  • Interact with external parties such as suppliers of goods and services
  • Manage compliance records, including performing secondary sign-offs as necessary, and reviewing records for completeness.
  • Prepare and improve policies and procedures.
  • Work with managers to enforce food safety and security policies for the facility.
  • Work with managers to create, implement and document corrective actions when deficiencies in processes or conditions are identified.
  • Prepare for external audits or regulatory visits.
  • Occasionally travel to attend professional training events or to visit other company locations
