About The Position

Seaboard Triumph Foods, LLC is seeking an FSQA Compliance Manager in Sioux City, Iowa, to develop, implement, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), quality assurance manuals, and food safety programs to ensure compliance with USDA regulations and company standards

Requirements

  • Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or a closely related field and two years’ experience in quality assurance and food safety within the food or meat processing industry.
  • Required experience to include two years’ experience performing the following functions: quality control audits within the meat processing industry, development and implementation of SOPs and training programs in FSQA, and working with quality and food safety programs, including HACCP, GMP, and SQF compliance.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to work well with others.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and/or governmental regulations.
  • Must be able to write informative reports, business correspondence and formal presentations on food safety topics that can be effective to all levels of personnel.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents in the English language such as safety files and procedure manuals.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with management personnel and others within and outside of the organization.
  • Ability to apply mathematical applications to practical situations.
  • Must possess strong analytical and metric-based skills.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical, diagram, written and/or verbal form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Strong personal computer skills such as Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint as well as all standard programs used by the industry and the ability to learn and effectively use any and all other computer programs that are or will be made available.
  • Must have a basic understanding of statistics to be able to prepare and/or interpret data.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license due to occasional travel to remote facilities for training and meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement food safety and quality training programs to ensure conformance with all local, state, and USDA regulations.
  • Supervise, direct, and train FSQA Technicians, Supervisors, and laboratory personnel engaged in inspection, testing, and food safety activities.
  • Monitor and evaluate quality control systems, including HACCP and GMP programs, to ensure effectiveness, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
  • Oversee the collection and analysis of production samples, test data, and audit findings; interpret results and provide feedback to management and production staff.
  • Identify food safety or quality issues; recommend and implement corrective and preventative actions, including root cause analysis and process improvements.
  • Verify that raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products meet established testing and inspection standards.
  • Establish sampling procedures and evaluate new quality control methods and technologies for application in pork harvesting and processing operations.
  • Track and document nonconformances, defects, corrective actions, and quality trends; prepare reports for management and regulatory review.
  • Act as USDA facility contact and coordinate preparation for USDA and third-party audits.
  • Participate in cross-functional management teams to address food safety, regulatory, and customer requirements.
