About The Position

This position will maintain the documentation, systems and procedures for food safety compliance at the Okanagan Specialty Fruits facility in Moses Lake, Washington. They will act as a key support role for the Food Safety Manager, ensuring that regulatory records are accurate and that corrective actions are implemented. The coordinator works closely with production, sanitation, maintenance, and warehouse teams and plays a key role in promoting a strong food safety culture throughout the facility.

  • Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa.
  • Onsite position in Moses Lake, Washington.
  • Hours are primarily M-F days must have the ability and availability to be flexible to meet the needs of production, sanitation, audits and other FSQ requirements; that may result in evenings or weekend shifts.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Safety, Microbiology, Quality Assurance, or a related field preferred.
  • 2–5 years of experience in food manufacturing, quality assurance, or food safety, preferably in a ready-to-eat food environment.
  • Experience with BRCGS, SQF, or other GFSI certification programs preferred.
  • A combination of the above education, experience, training and certifications will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Support and maintain the facility’s Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) plan.
  • Manage document control program.
  • Assist with development and updates to food safety policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and verify Critical Control Points (CCPs).
  • Document audit findings and track corrective actions.
  • Ensure corrective actions are completed and verified.
  • Maintain food safety logs, verification records, and compliance documentation.
  • Organize documentation for audits and inspections.
  • Performs and/or coordinates the completion of all internal audit programs.
  • Ensure records are accurate, complete, and stored according to company policy.
  • Train employees and contractors in Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and food safety procedures.
  • Help production staff understand food safety requirements.
  • Provide refresher training and support corrective actions when procedures aren’t followed.
  • Assist with the Supplier Approval and Monitoring Program.
  • Support Food Defense and Food Safety Culture programs.
  • Other responsibilities/duties as needed or deemed appropriate to the position.
  • Ensure the plant complies with regulations from agencies like the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) if applicable.
  • Review and maintain records required for regulatory inspections.
  • Assist with responses to regulatory findings or non-conformances.
  • Keep up to date with changing food safety laws and standards.
  • Ensure preventive controls meet requirements under the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA).
  • Help implement and maintain food safety certifications such as BRC Global Standard for Food Safety.
  • Prepare the facility for third-party audits, customer audits, and regulatory inspections.
  • Conduct internal food safety audits and GMP inspections.
  • Review production records for compliance with food safety programs.
  • Monitor sanitation effectiveness and environmental monitoring programs.
  • Assist with product traceability exercises and mock recalls.
  • Investigate food safety deviations or potential contamination issues.
  • Assist with root cause analysis.
  • Implement and track corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
