We have an exciting opportunity for a FSL Linux Systems Administrator to join the team with Nexus, a teammate company. We are actively searching for qualified candidates for this potential opening; however, we do not have assurance at this time when the position will be finalized and opened. Because we have strong reason to believe the position will be approved soon, we are proceeding with identifying qualified candidates and conducting interviews.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent certification in a related area.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
  • Experience utilizing a Linux OS, preferably Red Hat-based.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving experience.
  • Demonstrated task planning and effective communication skills.
  • Experience assisting others with IT-related issues.
  • Experience working in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year in any IT-related field.
  • Familiarity with RedHat-based systems.
  • Experience in IT Service Desk Support.
  • Knowledge of configuration management software (ansible, puppet).
  • Experience with Lustre Parallel Filesystems.
  • Familiarity with InfiniBand.
  • Experience with containerization using Singularity or similar technology.
  • Knowledge of monitoring and alerting systems.
  • Experience with SLURM resource manager.
  • Familiarity with SPACK software manager.
  • Experience with log consolidation and monitoring.
  • Knowledge of Git/Gitlab and software development (CI/CD).
  • Familiarity with Johnson Space Center campus network.
  • Knowledge of NASA security mechanisms (security plans, POAMs, ATOs, Risk Assessments).

Responsibilities

  • Support the Flight Sciences Laboratory (FSL) on the Amentum JETS contract.
  • Work with a team of Systems Administrators to build and maintain all FSL services.
  • Perform HPC administration, high-end Linux workstation administration, high-speed networking, and parallel filesystem administration.
  • Investigate system problems and proactively monitor system health.
  • Assist FSL lab users in effectively utilizing the systems.
  • Perform other duties as required.
