About The Position

The Frozen Foods Department Manager at Hy-Vee is responsible for setting the department standards for customer service, employee relations, cleanliness, sanitation, professional appearance, and overall profitability. This role involves presenting the freshest and best quality products at competitive retail prices while maintaining a positive atmosphere for both customers and employees. The manager will report to the District Store Director and oversee department employees, ensuring a friendly and efficient shopping experience.

Requirements

• High school diploma or over one year of related work experience.
• Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization.
• Ability to perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
• Ability to file, post, and mail materials; copy data from one record to another.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a positive attitude and creates an atmosphere of friendliness and fun through flexibility and teamwork.
• Generates a friendly atmosphere by encouraging employees to greet and speak to customers.
• Sets department standards for customer service, employee relations, cleanliness, sanitation, professional appearance, and overall profitability.
• Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner.
• Assists customers by escorting them to products, securing out-of-reach items, and loading/unloading heavy items.
• Answers the telephone promptly and provides friendly service.
• Recruits, hires, trains, supervises, disciplines, and evaluates department employees.
• Determines department goals with the store director.
• Establishes weekly work schedules and daily work plans for the department.
• Inspects signage and displays for quality and quantity of merchandise.
• Communicates with employees regarding sales and ideas.
• Handles and satisfies customer issues.
• Figures retail pricing and ensures correct pricing.
• Conducts inventory of the department.
• Plans displays, promotions, and determines pre-orders.
• Ensures proper temperatures and storage procedures are maintained.
• Understands and troubleshoots equipment and ensures maintenance is performed.
• Maintains strict adherence to department and company guidelines.

Benefits

• Anticipated hourly starting wage of $15.50 to $19.50 depending on experience.
