Requirements

  • Product knowledge (frozen grocery) and store layout; pricing and PLU/code lookups.
  • Division standards for facing/rotation/conditioning and merchandising practices.
  • Cash handling processes and register/self‑checkout operation (as needed).
  • Read, write, and communicate in English; follow instructions and company procedures.
  • Perform basic math (calculate prices, make change); handle all forms of tender.
  • Physical abilities aligned with role demands: lift/carry 5–60 lbs (frequent); stand/walk (continuous); reach (continuous); grip/grasp (frequent); occasional bend/stoop, squat/kneel; seldom push/pull 10–50 lb cases; occasional twist/turn.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Grocery Manager in directing the operation of the frozen food department, including supervising and training personnel.
  • Maintain quality condition of all frozen products: stock, rotate, face items; discard out‑of‑code/spoiled product; and maintain backroom standards.
  • Order, receive, store, stock, and manage inventory; support merchandising and build displays.
  • Encourage and sustain enthusiastic customer awareness; provide safe, friendly, courteous service, including suggestive selling.
  • Plan and organize regular/seasonal merchandise requirements and special sales needs.
  • Train, teach, and coach stocking/conditioning standards; assist with dry grocery order writing and grocery stocking.
  • Manage backroom inventory, conditions, and standards, support reclamation processes and new item setup.
  • Perform store maintenance tasks (dust/wash shelves, check temperatures in cases/coolers/freezers, bale cardboard, clean floors); may occasionally function as cashier/checker.
