About The Position

Description Duties and Responsibilities Customer Service & Sales Support Maintains an enthusiastic environment with a focus on fast, friendly customer service. Assists customers with product suggestions and provides helpful recommendations. Engages in suggestive selling through telephone, in‑store intercom announcements, and one‑on‑one interactions. Answers incoming calls promptly, resolves customer complaints appropriately, and escalates issues to the Store Director when needed. Product Handling, Stocking & Merchandising Rotates stock and removes outdated or spoiled product. Ensures merchandise is correctly priced, accurately displayed, and shelves are clean and well‑maintained. Implements effective seasonal, promotional, and in‑aisle displays. Stocks and rotates product to maintain freshness, quality, and compliance with division directives. May assist in other areas of the Grocery Department as needed. Inventory, Reclamation & Cost Control Responsible for proper code‑dating compliance across all department products. Assists with physical inventory every six months. Controls inventory levels to ensure adequate product quantity, quality, and freshness. Oversees processing of reclamation, ensuring back room and Frozen Food areas remain organized and in‑stock. Controls shrink and operational costs through proper product handling and rotation. Department Standards, Safety & Sanitation Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of work areas, coolers, equipment, and display cases. Ensures product temperatures are maintained at all stages of handling and storage. Complies with all retail labeling laws, federal and state regulations, company standards, and code‑dating policies. Implements emergency procedures in the event of equipment or software malfunctions. Follows and enforces all workplace safety rules and company grooming standards. Equipment Use & Product Preparation Implements correct product preparation techniques. Safely operates department equipment such as pallet jacks, hand trucks, scissors, knives, safety cutters, and Sterilox systems. Maintains proper use of temperature, packaging, and storage guidelines. Receiving, Documentation & Administrative Duties Performs receiving duties: breaking down loads, verifying orders, inspecting product quality, reporting shortages, and stocking/rotating product. Adheres to all temperature, storage, and packaging standards during receiving and stocking. Processes administrative paperwork and maintains accurate department records. Completes and monitors required logs including daily log sheets, sales and labor reports, and other documentation. Operates computer software and electronic ordering systems to place product orders accurately.
