About The Position

We are looking for a Senior Frontend-Focused Full Stack Engineer to help build a greenfield data visualization platform from the ground up.

This role will focus primarily on frontend development (approximately 75%) using React, with additional responsibilities on the backend (approximately 25%) involving API development and integration with Python and AWS-based systems.

You will work closely with the VP of Engineering and a small distributed team to design and deliver a modern web application that visualizes complex aviation datasets such as airspace and flight trajectories.

This position requires someone who can operate with high autonomy, contribute to architectural decisions, and recommend tools, frameworks, and best practices—not just execute predefined tasks.

Requirements

• Strong ability to communicate in English (professional proficiency)
• 5+ years of experience building modern web applications
• Strong expertise in React and modern JavaScript/TypeScript ecosystems
• Experience working with Python backend systems and API integration
• Experience building data-heavy or visualization-driven applications
• Ability to design frontend systems and architecture, not just implement features
• Experience working with cloud-based systems (AWS or similar)
• Strong understanding of performance optimization for complex UIs
• Experience working in a fast-paced, small team environment
• High ownership and ability to work autonomously
• Strong communication and collaboration skills in remote environments
• Problem-solving mindset with ability to make technical decisions independently
• Comfortable working in ambiguity and greenfield environments

Nice To Haves

• Experience with data visualization libraries (D3.js, Mapbox, or similar)
• Experience working with geospatial, telemetry, or real-time data systems
• Exposure to AWS services (S3, ECS, SQS, etc.)
• Experience in startups or early-stage product environments

Responsibilities

• Design and build a modern React-based web application for data visualization and reporting
• Develop intuitive UI/UX patterns for complex, real-time aviation datasets
• Build high-performance visualizations (e.g., airspace mapping, trajectory data)
• Integrate with backend systems and contribute to API development (Python + AWS)
• Evaluate and recommend frontend frameworks, libraries, and tooling
• Define frontend architecture, component structure, and best practices from scratch
• Collaborate closely with a small engineering team to deliver high-impact product features
• Ensure performance, scalability, and maintainability of the application
