The Office Assistant plays a crucial role in patient care within an ambulatory clinic environment, working under the supervision of medical providers. This position involves maintaining patient flow, assisting with clinical tasks, and ensuring a safe and efficient clinic environment.

  • Participates in the care of the patient under the direct supervision of the medical provider.
  • Collects patient information and assessment data, including vital signs.
  • Reports assessment findings to the practitioner and records them in a timely manner.
  • Monitors patient status and recognizes abnormal findings or changes in condition.
  • Organizes patient care activities based on assessment findings.
  • Confirms and clarifies written orders prior to implementation of delegated tasks.
  • Maintains aseptic techniques and infection control during clinical duties.
  • Assists practitioners in patient procedures, treatments, and examinations.
  • Proactively identifies solutions to barriers to safety.
  • Manages specimens, including labeling and transport to laboratories.
  • Performs quality control for waived testing and acts as a trainer.
  • Recognizes emergency situations and implements emergency procedures.
  • Administers first aid and maintains emergency equipment.
  • Provides patient education and maintains educational supplies.
