About The Position

Welcome hundreds of thousands of annual visitors to the Music Hall each year and help ensure their safety, comfort, convenience, and security. Front of House Associates provide general seating and wayfinding assistance to patrons attending ticketed and other major events in the 100-year-old Music Hall at Fair Park. These friendly, outgoing and energetic hosts are cross trained in health, safety, and security procedures in addition to their core customer service responsibilities and may occasionally take direction from or work alongside security personnel. This role’s primary goal is to ensure every event attendee feels welcomed and has a comfortable, safe, and fun experience in the Music Hall—whether in their seat, dining or having a drink/snack in the lobby, or simply exploring public areas of the historic civic building which is exclusively operated by Broadway Dallas. Broadway Dallas is one of the region’s largest nonprofit arts organizations, presenting touring Broadway at the Music Hall at Fair Park, including approximately 15 eight-performance weeks, as well as concerts, comedy, dance, and dozens of other special events throughout the year. This position requires regular on-site work in and around the Music Hall at Fair Park. Familiarity with Fair Park and its surrounding neighborhoods is strongly preferred.

Requirements

  • General availability to work nights, weekends, and occasional holidays
  • Must work at least 20 percent of any front of house scheduled shifts (or approximately three shows per two-week engagement). Security shifts do not count toward this requirement
  • Access to consistent method of transport to/from the Music Hall at Fair Park and other designated work locations (venues, off-site event/meeting sites, etc.)
  • Demonstrated punctuality and reliability in scheduling and directed tasks
  • A professional, positive, and courteous manner and communication in dealing with internal and external customers
  • Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to think critically and solve problems in an effective and timely manner
  • Service-oriented and flexible in positions and tasks assigned
  • Familiarity with, and consistent access to, basic computer hardware and software including ability to use a laptop and smartphone/tablet, checking email/workplace messaging/scheduling software, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Fluency in another spoken language or ASL
  • Entertainment or hospitality industry experience
  • Demonstrated appreciation of musical theatre or the performing arts in general

Responsibilities

  • Greet patrons in a friendly manner and offer wayfinding and general assistance
  • Scan tickets and perform other access control duties
  • Working in various roles within the department as needed
  • Escort patrons to their seats while distributing show programs and materials
  • Guide patrons to entrances and exits safely
  • Maintain decorum, order, and adherence to production safety and audience behavior rules/codes of conduct
  • Manage lines for and provide directions to private suites, restrooms, restaurant, and common areas
  • Remind patrons of security and house policies/procedures and contacting additional security or leadership personnel to enforce procedures when appropriate
  • Assist guests with varying needs including wheelchair or mobility assistance
  • Be present through conclusion of performance to assist with a safe and orderly departure
  • Escalate special requests or conflicts to supervisors when appropriate
  • Observe all workplace safety laws/guidelines and immediately notify management of any safety concerns or injuries for patrons or employees
  • Complete customary and routine customer service and other training as assigned
