What do Front of House Assistants do at Tablespoon? Tablespoon's Front of House Assistants work with our culinary team to ensure our classes and events run smoothly and efficiently. This is a customer-facing role where you will assist our guests throughout our events and make sure they are having a great time. On an average day, the Front of House Assistant will arrive before the event to set up our dining room and bar. Once our guests start to arrive, the Front of House Assistant will work with our team to greet them at the door, show them to their seats and offer them a welcome beverage. The Front of House Assistant is responsible for working the bar and pouring beer, wine and non-alcoholic drinks during the duration of our class. Once the guests sit down to eat, the Front of House Assistant continues to serve drinks, clears plates, and rings out guests. The Front of House Assistant is also encouraged to help with retail sales of our merchandise and wine by the bottle. We love to engage with our guests and create a personal connection, so expect to make small talk with our guests and chat with them throughout the event. At the end of the event, the team will work together to clean, breakdown the kitchen, and do the dishes. The Front of House Assistant is primarily responsible for cleaning the dining room, breaking down the bar, and washing glassware. Prior front of house or culinary experience is not needed but a love of food and cooking is required. Our menus change every day so there is always an opportunity to learn something new.
