About The Position

Waste Connections is looking for a safety conscious Front Load Commercial Driver to join our GROWING team in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The position involves operating a garbage truck on specified routes to collect solid waste, performing routine inspections and maintenance on vehicles, and handling physically demanding tasks such as loading and unloading waste. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, starting at 5:00 AM, with an expected workload of 50-55 hours per week and a starting pay of $21.00 per hour.

Requirements

• Must be 21 years of age or older with a satisfactory driving record.
• Valid Class B CDL with air brakes endorsement as a minimum.
• Ability to read, write, comprehend and communicate in English.
• Basic knowledge of truck components to complete pre- and post-trip inspections.
• Ability to work Monday - Friday, approximately 55-60 hours a week with paid overtime.

Nice To Haves

• Waste experience preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a garbage truck on specified routes to collect solid waste.
• Read route sheets and service each customer identified on the sheet or assigned by the dispatcher.
• Perform routine inspection and maintenance on vehicles such as checking fluids, safety equipment, and tires.
• Perform physically demanding tasks, including loading and unloading waste, often without helpers.
