About The Position

As part of the Emerging Tech team, you’ll build the web foundation for Project Sparky, an AI powered assistant that helps customers manage everyday shopping through intelligent, context aware interactions. In this role, you’ll design and scale high performance frontend platforms and shared web experiences that integrate with generative and agentic AI, partnering with backend, AI/ML, and product teams to bring next generation conversational shopping to life for millions of customers. Software Engineering – Frontend team responsibilities: Build scalable, high-performance web experiences and frontend platforms that millions of customers rely on. Design reusable components and shared UI systems that help teams move faster and deliver consistent experiences. Own decisions around frontend architecture, performance, accessibility, and quality standards. Collaborate with backend, UX, and product partners to translate customer and business needs into intuitive, polished interfaces. Maintain high engineering quality through thoughtful testing, reliable CI/CD practices, and constructive code reviews. Mentor engineers and help raise the bar for frontend best practices across the organization. Stay current with evolving frontend technologies to keep our platforms modern, resilient, and forward looking

Requirements

  • Principal / Distinguished Engineers
  • You shape the vision for Walmart’s frontend ecosystem.
  • 10–15+ years of frontend or web engineering experience.
  • Deep expertise with modern frameworks (React, TypeScript) and largescale frontend architecture.
  • Experience designing and scaling web platforms used by large, diverse user bases.
  • Proven leadership in performance, accessibility, coding standards, and system level decision making.
  • Staff Engineers
  • You lead through technical excellence and collaboration.
  • 7–10+ years of frontend engineering experience.
  • Ownership of major frontend surfaces or platform level capabilities.
  • Strong instincts for system design and partnership with backend and cross functional teams.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction across teams.
  • Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Option 2: 7 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
