Good Harvest Market, Waukesha County’s largest independently owned natural and organic grocer, is seeking apart-time or full-time Front End Shift Lead to join our Customer Service team. This role is ideal for someone who learns quickly, enjoys responsibility, and is interested in developing leadership skills within a values-driven, community-focused business. A blend of daytime and evening retail availability is required, including weekends and holidays. Flexibility is strongly preferred. Position Overview This role will begin with cashiering and customer service responsibilities, followed by advanced training at our Customer Service Desk, including handling returns, special orders, phone inquiries, and customer problem-solving. The goal of this position is to develop into a Shift Lead role, based on demonstrated performance and readiness. Shift Leads support front-end operations by assisting with delegation, administering breaks, and working in the cash office to manage tills. Candidates should be comfortable with this growth-oriented expectation from day one. Prior grocery or retail cashiering experience is preferred.

  • Providing exceptional customer service
  • Handling cash with accuracy and care
  • Efficiently performing customer transactions using our POS system
  • Processing returns and placing special orders for customers.
  • Answering our phones and properly directing calls.
  • Delegating checklist tasks to ensure productivity is maintained and the department functions optimally
  • Ensuring cashiers are scheduled appropriately for breaks and taking them at times that work best for the department
  • Cleaning the department
  • Retrieving carts from the parking lot
  • Stocking and facing products as needed
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to remain organized
  • Delegating checklist and operational tasks to front-end team members
  • Administering breaks in alignment with department needs
  • Working in the cash office to check and reset tills
  • Supporting smooth front-end operations during assigned shifts
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • At least two years of customer service experience
  • At least one year of cash handling experience
  • Must have flexible retail availability
  • Must be able to communicate clearly with our customers
  • A strong interest in natural foods and living
  • Must possess a strong work ethic and be self-motivated
  • Constant standing
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, pushing and pulling
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs
  • Varying temperature conditions (retrieving carts or aiding customers with their groceries out to their vehicle in various weather conditions, stocking coolers/freezers as needed)
  • Preferably have at least one year of customer service experience
  • Prior grocery or retail cashiering experience is preferred.
