Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience managing a front-end/cashier department in a grocery store environment.
  • Flexibility in schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the job including standing during scheduled hours, kneeling, stooping, using stairs, lifting, and pushing/pulling items of usually 20-50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a temperature-controlled environment.
  • Ability to show initiative, work with limited supervision, and be self-motivated.
  • Ability to hire, train, inspire, and develop a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficient computer knowledge and skills; Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage all aspects of the cashier department including department profitability.
  • Assist guests with urgency and lead the team to drive business/sales.
  • Provide every guest with an exceptional shopping experience.
  • Listen and respond to guest needs as the subject matter expert of the department.
  • Protect company assets and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain possession of the register key while on duty and throughout all transactions.
  • Take full responsibility for all transactions requiring key holder involvement.
  • Observe transactions requiring override for accuracy and proper procedure.
  • Communicate issues to store management in a timely manner.
  • Monitor front-end associate discrepancies and communicate to management.
  • Train and supervise all front-end associates on policies and procedures.
  • Establish and maintain a professional environment for customers and associates.
  • Schedule to ensure proper coverage at the front end, including daily break coverage.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, organized, and safe front end area.
  • Handle returns and credits daily according to company procedures.
  • Drive guest engagement programs to meet and exceed the Ultimate Gourmet Experience.
  • Exhibit professionalism in handling guest relations and service recovery.
  • Direct and supervise all front end and assigned department activities.
  • Assist with interviewing and hiring of department/store associates.
  • Monitor overall department performance and communicate employment status changes to management.
  • Drive results through motivation, team building, and follow-up of staff members.
