About The Position

The Front-End Developer will support a key IT program at the U.S. Department of Labor by designing, developing, and maintaining secure, accessible, and user-centered web interfaces. This role focuses on delivering intuitive user experiences for federal, state, and partner users while ensuring compliance with federal accessibility, security, and usability standards. The developer will work closely with, back-end developers, solutions architects, and federal product owners in an Agile delivery environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience developing modern web applications with a strong front-end focus.
  • Proficiency in: oJavaScript/TypeScript oHTML5 and CSS3 oModern frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue
  • Experience integrating front-end applications with RESTful APIs.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing Section 508-compliant and accessible web applications.
  • Experience working in Agile or hybrid Agile/Federal delivery environments.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a federal Public Trust clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop responsive, user-friendly web interfaces for a Portal using modern front-end frameworks and technologies.
  • Implement reusable UI components and design patterns that support consistency across portal features and state onboarding implementations.
  • Integrate front-end components with back-end services and APIs supporting identity verification, fraud detection, and case management workflows.
  • Ensure all user interfaces comply with Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility requirements.
  • Apply human centered design principles and usability best practices to support diverse user populations, including state administrators and program analysts.
  • Participate in accessibility testing and remediation efforts, documenting compliance as required for federal reviews.
  • Implement secure front-end coding practices to protect sensitive data, including PII associated with UI claims and fraud indicators.
  • Optimize application performance, cross-browser compatibility, and responsiveness across supported devices.
  • Support vulnerability remediation efforts by addressing findings related to client-side code.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, and retrospectives.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to translate wireframes and prototypes into functional user interfaces.
  • Work closely with back-end developers and DevSecOps teams to ensure seamless integration and deployment.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation related to front-end components, frameworks, and implementation standards.
  • Support system testing, UAT, and post-release defect resolution.
  • Assist with onboarding new states or users by supporting UI configuration and feature enhancements.
