George Fox University's Marketing Communications department is looking for a highly motivated individual to join their team and serve as a Front-End Developer. About the Job: In this position, the Front-End Developer will play a pivotal role in creating pages and templates for the George Fox University website. We're looking for a strong developer to join the web team in dreaming big about our website and helping make those dreams a reality. The Front-End Developer should have high standards and want to get it right for every user on every device every time. Enjoy a healthy work-life balance in a small team of marketing professionals overseeing a website of over 2,500 pages. Grow both your development and design skills in a collaborative and innovative environment. A day in the life of this position: This position plays an integral role in extending the university's culture of care and excellence into the digital space through the university website because virtually anyone who has a meaningful interaction with the university will visit the website at some point. By beautifully showcasing the George Fox experience and making it as easy as possible to complete tasks, the website welcomes and informs new users and supports those who are already part of the George Fox community. The front-end developer works with the web team to implement any new designs and features for the university website. The primary focus of this position is bringing these finalized mockups to life on the website using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SASS, or any other tools in a developer's toolkit. In addition to just looking good, this position also takes care to ensure that the pages are consistent on a variety of devices and screen sizes, meet accessibility guidelines, and meet best practices for speed and performance. As is the case for a large-scale site, not every page can be handcrafted, so this position will also help to manage automation scripts, components and design patterns, and other features to make sure the web team can keep the site as beautiful and updated as possible. Giving and receiving feedback is common within a small team of four, including a Web Designer, Director of Web Development, and Director of Digital Strategy. More than just making updates to the site, the developer is a proactive part of the marketing team, looking at ways to improve user experience (UX) and move visitors toward completing marketing conversion actions.
