About The Position

Balanced Body is an energetic, environmentally sensitive company that is growing! Founded over 50 years ago, Balanced Body leads the world in providing Pilates equipment and education. We are seeking a Front-End Web Developer with a strong focus on user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design to build intuitive, accessible, and high-performance web applications. The ideal candidate combines technical front-end development expertise with a deep understanding of user-centered design principles to create seamless digital experiences across devices and browsers. Adaptability and ability to learn quickly in various technical and creative environments while delivering high-quality work under tight deadlines are key attributes of the job.

Requirements

3+ years of experience in front-end web development.
Strong proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript (ES6+).
Experience with modern libraries, particularly React, and frameworks such as Gatsby.
Solid understanding of responsive design, mobile-first development, and cross-browser compatibility.
Experience implementing designs from tools like Figma.
Experience with GraphQL and REST APIs.
Experience working in headless or API-driven web architectures is preferred.
Strong knowledge of UX/UI principles and usability best practices.
Experience building ecommerce experiences such as product detail pages, product customization interfaces, checkout flows, and merchandising experiences.
Extensive experience with Shopify Storefront and Admin APIs.
Experience with version control using Git and Github.
Familiarity with search-as-a-platform services such as Unboxed and Algolia.
Familiarity with accessibility standards such as WCAG.
Comfort working on a number of projects simultaneously in an Agile/Scrum environment.

Nice To Haves

Experience working in headless or API-driven web architectures is preferred.

Responsibilities

Develop responsive, accessible, and high-quality web interfaces using modern front-end technologies.
Translate UX wireframes, prototypes, and visual designs into clean, scalable, and maintainable code.
Collaborate closely with other teams – design, marketing, and development – to deliver cohesive user experiences.
Implement modern UI patterns, design systems, and reusable components.
Optimize web applications for accessibility, cross-browser compatibility and performance including Core Web Vitals, page load speed and efficient JavaScript delivery.
Implement and support A/B tests and UX experiments to improve conversion rates, engagement, and ecommerce performance.
Use analytics tools (e.g., GA4, heatmaps, or session recordings) to identify usability issues and guide UX improvements.
Conduct usability improvements based on user feedback, analytics, and testing.
Maintain and improve front-end architecture and coding standards.
Ensure designs meet accessibility standards and responsive design best practices.
Participate in design reviews and contribute to improving UX/UI workflows.
Continuously stay up-to-date with emerging front-end and UX technologies.
