About the position

The position involves various administrative tasks within a medical office setting, focusing on patient interaction and support. The role is essential for ensuring smooth operations in the front office, including scheduling, patient check-in, and maintaining the cleanliness of the workspace. The individual will be responsible for managing patient appointments, verifying insurance, and assisting with medical records requests, among other duties.

Responsibilities

  • Scheduling patient appointments and answering telephone calls.
  • Chart preparation.
  • Appointment reminder calls.
  • Insurance verification as needed.
  • Patient check-in and registration.
  • Collecting co-pays and other balances.
  • Tracking of no-show appointments.
  • Documenting and distributing messages as needed.
  • Assisting in the distribution of faxes and scans throughout the day.
  • Scanning reports/paperwork as needed into the EMR.
  • Maintaining order/cleanliness of assigned workstations.
  • Assisting billing in eligibility verification and pre-certs for procedures.
  • Completing medical records requests as assigned.
  • Opening/closing of clinic suite.
  • Keeping the waiting area clean and neat.
  • Preparing upcoming days' schedules; confirming patients' balances, collecting if needed.
  • Assisting in medical records requests as needed from the billing department.
  • Performing other duties and tasks as assigned by Front Office Manager.
  • Ability to work at other locations when needed.

Requirements

  • High school or equivalent education required.
  • Telephone and computer experience required.
