JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for the main lobby Reception Desk, breakfast lounge and overall security of the property. Works directly with the motel patrons for check-in, check-out, giving directions, taking messages, answering telephone calls and taking reservations. Cleans and maintains front office, kitchen and restroom. Senior Front Desk Clerk - Track inventory and order supplies, responds to email, adds and subtracts rooms from 3rd party vendors. Assists in training Front Desk Agent. Coordinates Room Attendants assignments. UNIQUE JOB REQUIREMENTS: Basic mathematical, computer and clerical skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a friendly and positive and professional manner. Will be required to work weekends and holidays. Willingness to conform to company grooming standards. Senior Front Desk Clerk- Computer competency with "Filemaker" and "Word Processing" and "extranet on the internet". Ability to create a professional letter or email response to guest inquiry. JOB TASKS (IN ORDER OF IMPORTANCE): * Greet motel guests. * Count cash drawer at the beginning and ending of each shift. * Register motel guests and assign appropriate room (s). * Accept payment for hotel rooms and other charges and perform cash transactions. * Enter guest information, payment source into a computerized database program. * Answer multiline phone and takes accurate messages. * Take telephone reservations as required. * Prepare food, cuts up fruit and bakes muffins for continental breakfast. * Operate washer / dryer and folds and stacks towels. * Mop, vacuum, remove trash and shampoo carpet for front office, kitchen and restroom. * Other duties as assigned. Graveyard shift: (In addition to above assignments) * Review pre-audit material. * Print audit and various reports. * Balance credit card cash and other transactions to computer audit. * Walk length of property each hour and reports any unusual or suspicious circumstances to security department. Senior Front Desk Clerk - All duties listed above plus: * Navigate thru "extranet" to assign rooms for 3rd party to sell. RELATIONSHIPS INTERNAL: Director of Lodging Operations, Front Desk Supervisor, Room Attendants, Guest Service Representatives, Security department and may have contact with all levels of Santa Cruz Seaside Company employees. RELATIONSHIPS EXTERNAL: Extensive contact with guests. Senior Front Desk Clerk - Vendors, 3rd party booking partners. TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Prior cash handling, hotel/motel front desk, service oriented business and/or computer experience preferred. Senior Front Desk Clerk- 1+ year experience as a Front Desk Agent. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: * Ability to meet and greet the public in a positive and friendly manner and resolve guest complaints satisfactorily. * Ability to work alone and stay awake and alert while on duty. (11 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. on graveyard shift). * Ability to deal tactfully with problems and complaints (loud parties etc.) using independent judgment, common sense and without offending guests. * Ability to quickly learn and apply clerical office procedures and to keep complete and accurate records. * Ability to operate multiline telephone console, do light typing and operate 10-key calculator. * Ability to recognize and report any unusual or suspicious conditions or circumstances. * Ability to input and access data using a computer. * Ability to balance audit to payments on a computer. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Senior Front Desk Clerk - Demonstrates a higher level of knowledge, skills and abilities than a Front Desk Agent. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: * Ability to stand for up to 7 and one-half hours. * Ability to work in a confined space with limited access. * Ability to lift, drag or pull up to 50 lbs. * Ability to hear normal conversations on the phone and in person. * Ability to see, read and interpret documents and paperwork.
