Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two to three years office experience required.
  • Telephone and computer skills required.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English required.

Nice To Haves

  • Some college preferred.
  • Proficient in written and spoken Spanish preferred.
  • Bilingual/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Dental Hygiene Clinic at the front reception desk.
  • Interact with patients, faculty, students and the general public.
  • Answer the telephone, file, accept payments (use of credit card machine), schedule appointments and process end-of-day reports.
  • Must maintain confidentiality.
  • Understand and adhere to written policies and procedures of the College and Dental Hygiene clinic and assist students in following the policies and procedures.
  • Organize and maintain patient and student clinical files using Eaglesoft Dental Office Management software.
  • Organize patient records by type and number of patients for all students.
  • Maintain all patient records.
  • Maintain confidentiality with all patient records.
  • Prepare correspondence, reports, forms, minutes and statistical documents utilizing Microsoft Office.
  • Maintain confidentiality with all documents.
  • Maintain appointment schedule for all students and patients.
  • Call patients to schedule and remind them of appointments.
  • Collect payments from clinical patients, prepare daily deposits and balance daily clinical bank.
  • Maintain correspondence with other dental and medical offices for patient information and medical releases from physicians.
  • Work closely with Dental Hygiene Program Coordinator to identify problems with patients, students and/or equipment.
  • Assist full-time dental hygiene students in understanding the operations of a dental office.
  • Manage the daily operations of the Dental Hygiene office and coordinate functions with other departments of the College.
  • Operate up-to-date computer systems and software including Eaglesoft Dental Office Management, Windows and Microsoft Office.
  • Assist students, faculty and patients in person and on the telephone.
  • Stock and maintain supplies, including office supplies and inventory.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
