About The Position

The Frio County Food Bank Manager leads and coordinates programmatic efforts across Frio County in alignment with the San Antonio Food Bank’s “Food for Today, Food for Tomorrow, and Food for a Lifetime” framework. This includes implementing and promoting SAFB programs, conducting community outreach and education, expanding access to federal nutrition benefits such as SNAP, and strengthening local capacity to serve neighbors. The role includes a strong focus on SNAP outreach and application assistance while also supporting a broad range of program initiatives across the county. This position also serves as the primary programmatic liaison for SAFB in Frio County and surrounding areas. Responsibilities include partner outreach and recruitment, guiding the onboarding process, monitoring compliance with SAFB policies, and helping build sustainable capacity among community partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field from an accredited university preferred but not required (relevant experience may be substituted for college degree); high school degree or equivalent required.
  • Two years of non-profit program or related experience, including direct client services experience preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge/exhibited compassion of hunger and poverty issues.
  • Skills in computer applications i.e. word processing and database management.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to organize work, time, and self, attention to detail, accuracy, and meeting of deadlines.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other Food Bank staff and volunteers.
  • Ability to present a professional demeanor under a variety of conditions.
  • Possession of a current Texas driver’s license, liability insurance, and a clean driving record.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct SNAP outreach, pre-screening, and application assistance for individuals and families.
  • Provide professional in-person and phone-based client support, ensuring accurate documentation and timely application submission.
  • Implement SAFB programs across Frio County, including coordinating direct food distributions, mobile markets in Frio and surrounding counties, and other community outreach activities.
  • Manage daily operations of the on-site food pantry, including inventory, food safety, service flow, and volunteer coordination.
  • Build and maintain relationships with partner agencies, social service providers, and community organizations to expand food access.
  • Educate partners on e-referrals, SNAP processes, and SAFB program requirements.
  • Monitor partner compliance with USDA, TDA, and SAFB policies and maintain accurate agency files and documentation.
  • Manage and support one team member, providing guidance, communication, and accountability for assigned tasks.
  • Deliver presentations and participate in community activities to increase awareness of SAFB programs and benefits access.
  • Maintain clear, timely communication with clients, partners, and SAFB staff and participate in required trainings and meetings.
  • Demonstrate strong judgment, professionalism, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively to meet program goals.
