About The Position

The residential Youth Mentor is dedicated to the direct supervision of adolescent boys in a short-term transitional living program. Youth Mentors cultivate a safe, healthy, therapeutic, nurturing and caring home environment that is supportive of each participant's individualized needs, social, emotional, and academic development. Youth Mentors are positive role models offering support, strength-based encouragement and protection of youth in their care, advocating for youth and sharing information and updates with parents/guardians.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/ GED and experience working with at-risk or court-involved youth - Required
  • Must have valid driver's license - Required
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

  • Ensure physical safety of youth and provide Crisis Intervention
  • Routine counts to make sure clients are present and safe
  • Routine bed checks to ensure youth are present in their beds
  • Maintain a professional relationship with youth maintaining proper physical boundaries
  • Plan and lead organized daily activities and facilitate groups
  • Conduct therapeutic programming including Restorative Justice Practices and DBT-Lite
  • Interpret program to youth and family
  • Complete all written reports as assigned
  • Be aware and assure safety of youth with special needs physical or emotional
  • Provide transportation to clients and families as needed
  • Maintain Administration of Medication Certification
  • Reinforce and role model youth's individual needs plan
  • Attend regular and consistent attendance
