About The Position

The Head High School Boys Freshman Baseball Coach will support the Head Coach in managing and developing the boys' baseball program. The ideal candidate will possess strong baseball knowledge, effective communication skills, and a passion for mentoring student-athletes. This role requires a commitment to promoting a positive and competitive team environment and ensuring adherence to the school's athletic policies and New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA) regulations.

Requirements

Experience: Previous coaching experience, preferably at the high school level or higher, with a strong understanding of basketball fundamentals and strategies.
Education: A high school diploma is required
Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
Background Check: Successful completion of a criminal background check and child abuse clearance as required by state and school policies.
Ability to attend and actively participate in practices, games, and related events.
Capacity to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by the basketball season.

Nice To Haves

Certifications: CPR/First Aid certification is preferred. Completion of any required state coaching certification or training is a plus.

Responsibilities

Assist in Coaching: Collaborate with the Head Coach to design and implement practice plans, strategies, and game preparations. Provide individual and team instruction to enhance players' skills and understanding of the game.
Game Day Responsibilities: Help organize and manage game-day operations, including pre-game preparation, in-game coaching, and post-game analysis. Assist with strategy adjustments and player substitutions.
Player Development: Work closely with student-athletes to provide guidance, feedback, and support. Foster an environment that encourages personal growth, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
Scouting: Assist in scouting opposing teams. Contribute to identifying and nurturing talent within the program.
Administrative Duties: Help with the administrative tasks related to the program, such as maintaining player records, managing equipment, and coordinating team activities.
Compliance: Ensure adherence to all school, district, and NJSIAA rules and regulations. Promote a culture of compliance and ethics within the program.
Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with the Head Coach, players, parents, and school administration. Address concerns and provide updates as needed.
